WE'RE OUT OF THE TOP 20....VOTE NOW..ASK FRIENDS & FAMILY TO VOTE

In celebration of Kohl's Cares 10th Anniversary, they are donating $500,000 to 20 schools for a total of $10 million. The schools that get the most votes by Septembetr 3rd could win!

We are slipping seriously in the polls. One week ago we were 5th. Saturday we were 7th and as of August 16, 2010 we are now in 11th place. If we don't encourage others to vote, Mooseheart may not win a HALF MILLION DOLLARS. Think of all that can be done for our kids with that money! You have a total of 20 votes so how about voting for our local schools while you're at it. Time is running out.

Lake Panasoffkee will be hosting the Cypress Moose Legion # 202 Celebration September 4th & 5th. We will be needing volunteers to sell tickets, help in the kitchen, call bingo, deal cards, meet & greet and of course, help with the turkey shoot.

We need help all weekend long so whenever and for how long you are able to assist we are most appreciative.

Let's work together to make a good impression on the other 12 other lodges in our Moose Legion.

Good question. If you haven't been to a Lodge/Chapter meeting in a while, you might be suprised at the swift pace of most meetings. You have the opportunity for effective input without wasting your time, as well as enjoying the opportunity to relax with friends.

Has an event been scheduled you wished you could have been involved with from the beginning? Have you ever wondered why it seems you have no say in how your Lodge or Chapter operates?

Making it a habit to attend meetings regularly is a plus for your Lodge or Chapter. As of the night you were enrolled, you have a VOTE - and it counts!! You may be voting on the acceptance of new members, the expenditure of Lodge/Chapter funds, or the election of officers.

As an informed member, you will know if the Lodge or Chapter officers are doing everything they should to ensure a successful fraternal operation.

FROM THE GOVERNOR
John Davis

Greetings Brothers and Coworkers. Hope all are doing well during these record breaking temperatures this Summer. Please stay hydrated if you are doing a lot of outdoor work. We are in the process of cleaning, pressure washing and painting surfaces outside of our Lodge for the up coming Moose Legion Celebration on the 4th and 5th of Sept. Much work is needed in the Social Hall as well; ie striping and waxing the floors. We can use volunteers if you feel you can be of assistance. This event only occurs once every two years and it has been a huge success in the past and I’m certain it will be this time as well.
As I have mentioned in my past comments, we are still getting estimates for the renovation of our Social Quarters and the upgrade of four RV sites. Surprisingly, so far the RV improvements are the cheapest at @ $4,000.00. We will not be starting any of these changes until next Spring as it is too close for our Northern friends and members to return.
Membership remains at the forefront of our priorities. International is offering free membership dues to anyone who signs up two new members a year. This is not a one time deal. You can now never pay dues again by signing up only two new members a year. Don’t miss out on this offer and remember that it is a win-win situation for you, our Lodge and our fraternity in support of Moose Heart and Moose Haven.
Additionally, as part of our efforts to increase membership at our Lodge we are transforming the bar in the Social Hall into a non-smoking area. We hope to have it up and running in time for the Celebration or at least before our out of town members return. This will be a full service bar with the same gamming that’s available in the Social Quarters now.
The new bar bingo games are becoming very popular and bringing in extra donations much needed this slow time of year. If you haven’t tried them yet, give it a shot. They are a lot of fun and for as little as five to ten cents a game you could win $250.00.
In a final note; there will be a nomination committee meeting on the 1st of Sept. to fill the vacancy of Junior Governor and possibly a Trustee position. Anyone interested for either of these can come forward at that time and put your name in the running. The voting will be on 09/15/2010.
As always, please take care of our bartenders and Doreen in the kitchen by tipping generously for the services they provide for our comfort and enjoyment. God Bless you one and all! Look forward to seeing ya! John

Howdy ya’ll!!!! How’s thing been going?? Been down to the Lodge lately??? If you haven’t you’ve been missing some fun. Bar games on Tuesday’s & Thursday evenings, Karaoke on Friday’s and the best “The Ladies Meetings” on the 1st and 3rd Thursday’s of each month. Yes I said the Ladies Meetings, they have really changed lately, you should come and see all the changes and fun we have at the meetings.

If you haven’t been around lately you need to come by and try it out. I think you really like what you see. The Women of our Chapter were recently mailed a letter letting them know some of the updates and changes. In there we tried to explain some of the changes to our meetings, they are not so stiff and boring anymore, we have fun and try to keep the short and sweet. With this in mind I would like to invite all of you back to our meetings to see the changes.

We sure could use help in supporting the children @ Mooseheart and the Seniors @ Moosehaven and all of you sure could help. I know a few of you would say I’m to old, can’t get around, don’t get our much or don’t drive at night, but does that stop you from thinking??? If you have any ideas or suggestions of any kind for fund raisers or activities, please let us know. Drop us a line, call us, send us an email, we would really like to hear from you. That may be the only way you may be able to help, but your are helping, and the kids and seniors would really appreciate all of it!!!!! I know we would really appreciate it.

I have some news for those who know me & my family--if you remember my nephew Dairen Cummings my sister Gloria’s son. He’s been living with an Uncle in Jacksonville, he recently Graduated from High School with a 3.85 GPA, he took an early Enlistment in the Army. He went into Boot Camp in July, graduating on August 29 and is now in Arizona going to his B School for specialized training. He even has a Top Secret Clearance already. For a boy who had such a troubled childhood and life, he has really grown up to be a very handsome, smart wonderful young man. We are so very proud of him as I hope all of you are also. Those of you who know him really understand what I’m talking about here. “God really answers Prayers!!!!!”
